Peter Rip passed away in November of 2010. He had a PhD from Stanford University and was a Venture partner at Crosslink Capital in San Francisco. Peter is survived by his wife Dara, two children Nichole and Chad and two grandchildren Katalina and Dillon. He was also an avid photographer.

His company, Crosslink Capital, posted:

It is with a profound sadness that we announce the passing of our friend and partner, Peter Rip on November 17th after a long battle with cancer. Peter exemplified what it meant to be an early stage venture capitalist and was a highly valued member of our team. We will sorely miss his wit and humor.

His passing was covered in Fortune/CNN:

Some very sad news out of the venture capital community, where Peter Rip has passed away after a 10-year battle against non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
