2001 Update from George

We got this update from George in 2001:

I have been in the Hotel business for the past 25 years, many of them with Marriott. In that process I left Chicago in 1982 and have lived in LA, CA, MA, SC, NY, NJ and TX since. After I reached a General Manager’s position, I figured it was time to get out of the business and in the effort, ended up not out, but away. For the past three years I lived in St. Lucia, Virgin Islands, where I worked as a Regional Manager for Sandals Resorts International, traveling throughout the Eastern Caribbean. It had to end alas and I have relocated now to Dallas where I am General Manager of two hotels, a Radisson and a Sheraton. I work for Meristar Hotels and Resorts. Things are pretty tough now in this business but I have faith that things will work out for us all.

I married Jean Tompane in 1992 and we have two daughters, Victoria (8) and Alison (3). Jean has been in the hotel business also for many years and having just returned from three years forced retirement in the Caribbean, is preparing a re-entry into the work force, not necessarily in this business. She has been a fund raiser and organizer in St. Lucia and is headed in that direction.

We are adjusting more to a re-entry to the US than to Dallas but are getting to know the area a bit and learning how to adapt to the weather. In late September it is quite pleasant!

I remember Parker well and remember very good friends there. I am sorry I won’t be able to see you this time but would love to hear from anyone who heads this way.
