2002 Update from Peter Rip
In early 2002 we received this personal update from Peter:
Went to Boston for college (Brandeis). Went to Palo Alto for grad school (Stanford). Went Chicago for first job teaching at UC and got married. Left teaching, moved back to Calif and got unmarried after a couple years (~27 by then). Worked in consulting and eventually moved to New Jersey to start a company with some Bell Labs guys (~1983/~29). Got married to a terrific woman (Dara) in 1986 with three great kids then 7,10,13. Moved the company and the family back to Silicon Valley after three years in NJ. Sold the company / kept the family in 1991. Became an investor about then and stayed in Calif ever since.
My wife’s into horses/dressage (3) and I’m into bicycling and photography. (Was into photography at FWP, but gave it up for 29 years after high school. My partner at Leapfrog was a protge of Ansel Adams in his younger days and he’s got me back into it again. It’s changed a bit in 30 years though ;-). We lost our youngest, Edward (22), in a motorcycle accident late last year. Chad (26) is married, no kids. Nichole (29) is not. Both work in computers; both work for a public dot-com living on fumes — trades by appointment-only in the pink sheets these days.
